CHARLESTON, WV -- December 14, 2017 -- Huntington Bank today named Chad Prather president of its West Virginia region. Prather will continue to serve as the lead commercial banking executive and succeed Andy Paterno, who will retire at the end of 2017.

“Chad is a strong leader with the passion and ability to shape Huntington’s ability to continue to serve our customers well into the future,” said Paterno. “He’s played an instrumental role in working with me and our entire leadership team to drive our success in West Virginia.”

Paterno, who came out of retirement to lead Huntington and strengthen its presence across the state over the last five years, ends a distinguished 40-year career in financial services and insurance.

“Andy successfully marshalled the talents of our West Virginia colleagues to help our customers and achieve bottom line success,” said Huntington Chairman, President and CEO Steve Steinour. “Thanks to his efforts and partnership with Chad, we’re fortunate to have another outstanding leader who’s guided by a passion for developing strong relationships and working with customers and communities to make a lasting difference across the state.”

“Chad has provided tremendous leadership to our entire commercial banking team under Andy’s direction,” said Rick Remiker, senior executive vice president and director of commercial banking. “He’s the right person to further our commitment to delivering the deep combination of expertise and resources our customers rely on to succeed in business and life.”

"I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to lead a tremendous group of colleagues in a state I'm proud to call home,” said Prather. “Andy has served as a great leader, friend, and mentor over his tenure these past five years. We wish Andy well in his retirement and will employ his same spirit with an emphasis on making an even greater difference in helping families and business owners across the state of West Virginia thrive in the years ahead.”

Prather, who joined Huntington in 2005, is a veteran financial services professional with 18 years of experience in business and commercial banking. As president of Huntington’s West Virginia region, he will lead 250 Huntington colleagues who provide consumers and businesses with convenient access to full-service banking, investment management and insurance services through a network of 25 branches, 53 ATMs, telephone (800) 480-2265 and online banking.

Active in the community, Prather serves as chairman of the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce board, chair of the 2017 Morgantown United Way campaign, and a member of the Leadership West Virginia board and board of the Hott Brown Foundation. He previously served on the Morgantown Area Economic Partnership board and recently received the 2017 Community Leader Award from United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

Prather, his wife, and their daughter reside in Morgantown. He will continue to operate out of Morgantown and Huntington’s regional headquarters in Charleston.
